This is Lisa writing. I hope this letter is meeting you at your happiest, healthiest, most life-giving, life-changing, life-making and mending and restoring high of highs! Over the past eight months I’ve seen many of those moments but they haven’t come without the necessary stretching and growing parts of life as well.
I’m finishing up my sophomore year at the University of Florida and in my studies and personal walk with God I’ve come to see His faithfulness and commitment to His people in new and fresh ways. Before the start of fall semester last August, I went on a mission trip to Ecuador where one of our team members, Joshua Tico Kim, went to be with the Lord. He gave his life for that which God sent his son – love for His people everywhere. The sudden loss of a friend was a loving reminder of my purpose here on Earth. I need Jesus, the world needs Jesus, and God has made a way for both missions to be accomplished at once!
This summer, I have the opportunity to return to Ecuador to continue the work begun by Jesus and the purpose to which Tico dedicated his life. From July 24 to August 3, I will be working in the Amazonian region of Ecuador with a missionary to reach villages in Sinangue through children’s ministry and building projects. Our team will also be serving Lumbaqui and Cabeno doing everything from dental and medical work to Tae Kwon Do demos and lots of things in between!
While it is easy to say I will be “on missions” for the week or two I will be in Ecuador, nowhere in the Bible is “missions work” designated to specially qualified “missionaries” who travel to foreign countries. Whether home or abroad, Christians are all given the opportunity to contribute to God’s global mission of making disciples of all nations! As vital as those going are those sending and supporting through prayer and finances. If you would like to partner with me financially, you can give online at this very website! Checks can be made out to Korean Presbyterian Church of Orlando with “Ecuador – Lisa” in the byline as well. Please remember me in your prayers for a heart of humility and service, effective ministry, and a heart like His for Ecuador. I can’t do this alone and your partnership – every thought, prayer, and penny – counts for the Kingdom of God.
If I haven’t said it recently, to know that I have a friend I can ask to join me on this trip is reason alone to be thankful. I’m praying that you’re blessed in this opportunity to reach Ecuador for the glory of God,
Lisa Lee
