2017 Ecuador Missions Support Letter

Dear Fellow Supporters,

My name is Eddie Yoo and I am a third-year student at University of Central Florida and a member of Harvest at the Korean Presbyterian Church of Orlando (KPCO). From August 7th to 13th, I will be flying out to the remote jungles of Ecuador with a small team of other fellow applicants to do God’s work and calling on a short-term mission trip. This will be my second mission trip that I will be attending, so the concept is nothing new. However, the destination and people will be much different than the prior trip. On this trip, we will be going to new locations where the people there have never even heard of the name of Jesus beforehand. Additionally, we will also be going to the same place where our dear brother and a member of our congregation, Joshua Kim, had lost his life in the summer of 2011 while serving on the same trip.

This brings me as to why I feel the calling to go and serve on this trip. For the past few years, I've been in a place where I would have had a plethora of excuses as to why I wouldn’t be able to go that summer. Be it summer classes, a job opportunity, or traveling, there was something that stood above and before serving in summer missions. Over time, I’ve come to realize that as God calls each and every one of us to “go and make disciples of each and every nation”, it is our responsibility to answer that call to be his hands and feet. Ultimately, it does not matter what excuses one tries to come up with or what one feels may be conflicting with their schedule. What does matter is that one pushes these matters aside and gives their life like Joshua did during his time on earth. This is the reason for this letter; written in hopes that you would be moved to support me through finance and prayer.

While in Ecuador, we will be doing many things to reach the people there. Generally, we will be involved with helping local churches reach out to their communities by evangelizing to unreached people, holding revival meetings, and helping in their prayer ministries. Lastly, we will be helping to plan and implement children’s Vacation Bible School in order to reach out to children within the local communities.VBS will consist of arts and crafts, worship songs, and most importantly, teaching them about our Savior and Lord, Jesus.

“To belong to Jesus is to embrace the nations with Him.” — John Piper

Now for some ways you can help support me!

  1. Financial support/partnership: For this mission trip, I will need to raise $1300 for plane tickets and other living necessities. You can write any amount desired on a check paid out to KPCO, or donate online to my profile at http://donate.harvestkpco.org/en/ecuador2017/items/305951
  2. Prayer: For this trip to be an utmost success we will need much prayer from everyone we can get! So I ask that you pray for my team and I so that we can be:
  • Safe and Healthy throughout the trip.
  • Humble and be patient with our situations and the people around us.
  • Lastly, to be able to work as a team smoothly and Glorify God in any and every way possible.

Thank you for your support and prayers for our team and our trip! - Eddie Yoo
